Moderate Content

Polish before you publish!

Updated over a week ago

New content (activities, courses, community organizations) submitted by Collaboratory members must be reviewed and approved by a moderator or administrator before they are made public. This protects the institution and ensures data that is being shared publicly is not offensive or derogatory. It also allows moderators and administrators to keep their finger on the pulse of engagement activities at the institution.

NOTE: Moderation is required only for new content . If the content revised has already been approved and made public, it will not be required to undergo moderation again.

Moderators and administrators can review and approve content by navigating to the Moderator panel, via the administration tabs in the left-hand navigation pane.

Content that is pending moderation will be available for review to all Moderators and Administrators at an institution.

Moderate Content

Step 1: View the Content

  1. Navigate to the Moderation panel by selecting "Moderation" in the left-hand navigation pane, or clicking on the email alerting you content has been submitted for moderation.

  2. Select the type of content you wish to moderate (activities, community organizations, courses/sections, or other institutions).

  3. Select the view icon to the right of the content you wish to moderate.

  4. This will activate the Moderation window.

Step 2: Take Action on the Content

From here, administrators and moderators can:

  • Review the content submission by clicking on the linked title in the header (this will open a new window for review)

  • Review the submission history

  • Approve or deny the submission, providing comments if applicable

Once a piece of content has been moderated, it will be removed from the Moderation queue and added to Moderation history. Administrators and moderators will see a confirmation message that the content was successfully moderated, and the content owner will receive email notification of approval or denial. If the content was denied, the owner must revise and resubmit it before it is made public in Collaboratory.
