Clone Activities

Double your pleasure, double your fun.

Updated over a week ago

Collaboratory members are able to clone like activities. This allows members to duplicate existing activities in order to help streamline the data entry process.

NOTE: Activities that are often cloned include internships, student-teacher placements, or repeating course-based activities that are similar in content (e.g., same SLOs, community partners, focus areas addressed).

Collaboratory members (e.g., faculty, staff, and students) are able to clone existing activities that they:

  • Own, as an activity lead

  • Created, as an activity lead or a proxy, or

  • Are named as a partner on

When an activity is cloned, all data within the original activity is copied over into a new cloned activity form, where users can modify any fields that are different from the original activity before submitting it for publication.

Clone an Activity from the Homepage

Once you are logged in, from the Collaboratory homepage, select "Add Activity" (if you will be the owner/lead of the activity) or "Proxy Activities" (if you are creating the activity for someone else).

Select "Clone an existing activity" at the bottom right of the activity create pop-out.

A box will appear listing all activities you currently own, created, and/or partner on. Click on the activity you wish to clone and select the green “Clone” button, below all listed activities.

Clone an Activity from the Activity View

You can also clone activities from the activity view. Navigate to the activity you wish to clone and select "Clone" within the Actions drop-down menu. You can choose to clone the activity as the new activity lead (if you are a faculty or staff), or as a proxy.

Edit and Submit Your Cloned Activity

After you’ve selected your cloned activity, a new activity form will appear. All of the data from the original activity will automatically be input into the data fields. From the activity form, all data points can be edited, as needed.

Submit your cloned activity for publication in Step 6 of the activity form.

HEADS UP! The activity title will include "Copy of". Make sure to update the title before submitting the activity to be published.

NOTE: A Collaboratory administrator must approve any cloned activities before they are publicly displayed. If a proxy clones an activity for a faculty or staff member, that faculty or staff member must still claim the activity before it can be published.
