Make sense of the search and find what you need!

Collaboratory offers a robust search feature that allows faculty, staff, students, and community members to quickly and easily understand the who, what, when, where, and why of an institution's engagement in community. All searches bring about returns through the lens of the activity (Collaboratory’s unit of analysis). The table below illustrates what is returned via search when a specific filter or keyword search is used.

Unit Filter

Unit =

School of Public Health

Using the Unit filter to search for the unit, “School of Public Health” returns:

  • Published activities where Public Health is listed as a unit partner

  • Community organizations connected to published activities where Public Health is listed as a unit partner

  • Courses connected to published activities where Public Health is listed as a unit partner

  • Faculty and Staff who partner on published activities where Public Health is listed as a unit partner

  • Units that are a direct match for Public Health, units nested within Public Health

Organization Type Filter

Type = Education: K-12

Using the Community Organization filter to search for Education: K-12 types returns:

  • Published activities that involve a K-12 organization

  • Community organizations that are labeled K-12 and are a partner on a published activity

  • Courses connected to published activities that involve a K-12 organization

  • Faculty and Staff who partner on published activities that involve a K-12 organization

  • Units that partner on published activities that involve a K-12 organization

Scholarship Filter

Scholarship: courses = yes

Using the Scholarship filter to search for content associated with courses returns:

  • Published activities that are connected to a course

  • Community organizations that partner on published activities that are connected to a course

  • Faculty and Staff who partner on published activities that are connected to a course

  • Units that partner on published activities that are connected to a course

NOTE: This advanced filter also allows you to search for activities excluding Research and/or Courses by selecting "Yes" or "No" in the filter.

Keyword Search

Keyword = homelessness

Searching “homelessness” via the keyword search returns any content (activities, organizations, courses, faculty/staff, and units) where the term “homelessness” is included (e.g., activity title, organization description, faculty profile)

  • Results also include any content (organizations, courses, faculty/staff, and units) that are associated with an activity that includes the term “homelessness”
